B. Character (higher level)
Scout is Jem's yonger sister, she is alway getting into trouble and Jem is the one who has to get her out of it. I think Jem is the person Scout looks up to because Atticus is always working and she doesn't really like Cal. Jem and Scout play together but only at home.

A. Fiction: Scout, Jem, and Dill believed that Boo Radley came out on dark nights, and did strange things. They also thought that he fed on raw animals such as cats and squirrels. They believed that the father had chained up Boo to a bed, due to the rumors of violence toward his own father.
Facts: Boo Radley was involved in a gang. He was not seen for 15 years after his crime. Boo Radley didn't go to prison, because of the promise of his father, that he would take care of him.

Jem and Scout are siblings. Jem is the older brother and Scout is the younger sister.
Here, Scout is the narrator.
Proof #1: pg.3 "When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow."
Proof #2: pg.14 "Besides, Jem had his little sister to think of."
Jem cares for his little sister and he is protective of her because after his mom died, Scout is all he has left from his mother.

Scout also cares for her brother and his well-being.
Proof #1: pg.6 "He remembered her [mother] clearly, and sometimes in the middle of a game he would sigh at length then go off and play by himself behind the car-house. When he was like that, I knew better than to bother him." (As we can see from here, Scout understands how her brother feels.)

B. Character: Describe Dill
Description: Dill is a 7 year-old boy who looks as if he is four. He is so short that Scout, the main character of the story, towers over him even though she is one year younger than he is. Dill's real name is Charles Baker Harris, which Scout and her brother Jem think is a weird name because it is very long. They jokingliy said that his name is so long that it could possibly be "one foot longer than he is". He seems to love solving mysteries (including the one where he wants to try to see what is happening in the Radley family's house). He is a very wide-reader which makes him very smart, yet he is still very curious about many things.

-Boo Radley kept their doors and shutters closed every Sunday. In Maycomb having your door closed only meant illness or cold weather. [PG. 9]
-While Boo was making a scrapbook, he stabbed his father in the leg as he was passing by. He pulled the scissors back out wiped it on his pants and went back to what he was doing. [PG. 11]
-The sheriff wasn't brave enough to lock Boo in jail with the other black prisoners but instead locked Boo in the courthouse basement. [PG. 11]
Fiction
-Boo Radley feasted on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch telling by his bloodstained hands. [PG. 13]
-Legends were that when Boo was in his teens he became friends with some of the Cunninghams from Old Sarum. They created a group somewhat close to a gang. [PG. 9-10]
-Mr. Radley kept Boo chained to the bed most of the time to keep him out of sight.[PG. 11]

Describe the town of Maycomb. Give 3 examples to support your description.
1. People in Maycomb were not rushed or hurried. It was a quaint town- not much commotion.
Quote: "They ambled across the square, shuffled in and out of the stores around it, took their time about everything."
Another quote: "There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go..."
2. Maycomb's residents had lived there for a long time, and people knew each other and gave certain reputations..
Quote: "The Radley Place was inhabited by an unknown entity the mere description of whom was enough to make us behave for days on end; Mrs. Dubose was plain hell."
3. The county of Maycomb is poor and undeveloped. It is not modernized and it doesn't have the latest technology of that time period.
Quote: "In rainy weather the streets turned to red slop; grass grew on the sidewalks, the courthouse sagged in the square."

Here is my descriptive feedback and assessment of your lit circle practice assignment:
1. Scout: Pretty good inferences but lacking in specific (quoted) support. Also, always remember to list all team members' names. Assessment: 2
2. Team Boo: Excellent job of separating Boo Radley fact from Boo Radley fiction. All team members' names listed. The only thing that could have been added would be quotes to support your categorization of fact and fiction.
Assessment: 3/4
3. Haunted Pecans (watch spelling): Great job of supporting your inferences with quotes! Good inferences about the bond between brother and sister. Only thing that could have been added would be some reference to the typical older-younger sibling stuff that goes on between them as well.

4. Girl Scouts: Excellent job! You've got some great inferences about Dill (his "mystery solving" nature and his wide reading) as well as the basic physical description. And you've supported them with quotes! What about Dill's family situation? Were you able to infer anything about that?

5. Team Killahs: Nice job of distinguishing BR fact from BR fiction. I think, however, that you have one mixed up. Boo did mingle with the Old Sarum crowd when he was a teenager. Also needed quotes to support your inferences. Need to list all group members' names in post.
